Out-of-state residents taking lessons with an instructor in the state of Oregon will be accepted in the competition. Vocal applicants must be 16–22 years of age or under on the day of the competition, and must be residents of the state of Oregon. Instrumental applicants must be 18 years of age or under on the day of the final round of the competition, must not have completed high school, and must be residents of the state of Oregon. Trudy was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Dietlind and Luitgard. Survivors include her beloved husband, William Carl Rumple two sons, Bruce and his wife Debora, Mark and his wife Ivri one daughter, Diane and her partner Hermann sister, Helga and her husband Hatti five grandchildren, Bryson, Megan, Markus, Marcel, and Maya three great-grandchildren and a loving extended family. She spent the last years of her journey near family in Kansas City.
In 1989 they retired to Eugene, OR, where Trudy indulged her passions of gardening, nature, and enjoying classical music. They settled in Wichita, KS, and "Frau Rumple" taught German at Derby High School for nearly 20 years. Bill and Trudy raised theri family in Germany, California, New Mexico, and Colorado (where she earned her Master's degree). Shortly thereafter, she met an American GI, moved to Ohio, and they were married for 63 years till the day she died. Trudy was born the daughter of Karl Anton and Friedel Mueller on Apin Fulda, Germany, where she grew up with her three sisters in wartime Germany. Rumple of Overland Park, KS, passed away on Friday, Maat the age of 85.
